A place where learning becomes fun and hidden talents shine!
Learning is best achieved through inspiration.
As every parent and teacher knows, no one can force a child to learn. It is important to inspire the child’s interest in learning. This takes patience, creativity, and fun; ingredients often missing from current educational trends. My goal is to make learning exciting and bring back the joy that they had, when they first entered kindergarten.
I specialize in teaching reading, writing, and spelling. I also work with behavior and improving social skills. I am known for my “Reading through the Arts” approach.
There are different types of learning styles, just as there are different types of people.
Some people have an auditory learning style, while others have a kinesthetic or visual style. When your child is having problems learning in school, the answer may be simple. He or she may be primarily visual, while the teacher may be using an auditory approach to education. The two styles may be clashing. Having an assessment done of your child’s individual learning style can help solve the problem.
“My son was struggling in a basic skills class for reading and language arts when he started with Shelley.
Because of Shelley’s expertise he is now in an average reading and language arts class. His writing skills
have developed from simple sentences to writing persuasive paragraphs.
As my son tells me: ‘Shelley makes it
easy to understand and do it.’ I would highly recommend Shelley for any position that would involve working
with students and their families who have learning differences.”
